Treasure Lakes
It is hard to imagine an area in the United States that has more amazing day hikes that the Eastern Sierra Nevada near Bishop. The Treasure Lakes in the John Muir Wilderness are just one of literally hundreds of alpine meadows, tarns, and lakes that can be reached by short but sometimes steep hikes. Get a map, turn west at the main stoplight in Bishop, follow the road up into the Sierra Nevada and pick any trailhead. You will not be disappointed. - Treasure Lakes, Inyo National Forest, California.
