In The Forest

In a hurried effort to reach the flower-filled meadows and scenic vistas of Mount Rainier, most visitors drive through the lowlands with barely a passing glance. It's a shame since a ten minute walk from the road can place you in complete silence and solitude among the giants. Next time take a moment to breathe in the fragrance of the Cedars. Stare up to into the canopy of the forest and wonder how anything can live for nearly a thousand years. Close your eyes and feel the damp lushness of life on your skin. There will still be time to join the hoards of visitors in the parking lots further up the mountain...but perhaps you will want stay.
